REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICY
Last Updated: 2 November 2026
How Tech Smash handles project cancellations, payments and refund requests.
Before you begin
This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains how cancellations, refunds and project payments are handled for services provided by Tech Smash.
This policy applies to services including website development, web design, WordPress development, Shopify development, eCommerce development, custom web development, software development, mobile application development, SEO, digital marketing, Google Ads, Meta Ads, website maintenance and related services.
Refund eligibility depends on the project stage, work completed, expenses incurred and the terms agreed in the relevant quotation, proposal or invoice.
On this page
1. Advance Payments
Tech Smash may require an advance payment before starting a project.
The advance payment confirms the client’s approval to begin work and may be used for:
- Project planning
- Research
- Design work
- Development setup
- Resource allocation
- Technical configuration
- Third-party purchases
- Initial project execution
Once work has started, an advance payment may not be fully refundable.
2. Cancellation Before Work Starts
If a client requests cancellation before any project work has started, Tech Smash may consider a refund of the amount received.
Any payment gateway charges, banking charges, third-party costs or administrative expenses already incurred may be deducted from the refundable amount.
3. Cancellation After Work Has Started
If a client cancels a project after work has begun, Tech Smash may charge for the work already completed.
This may include:
- Research
- Planning
- Design
- Development
- Content setup
- Technical configuration
- Meetings
- Revisions
- Integrations
- Testing
- Project management
The refundable amount, if any, will be calculated after deducting the value of completed work and any non-refundable expenses.
4. Completed or Delivered Work
Once a project, milestone, design, development component or agreed service has been substantially completed or delivered, payments related to that completed work are generally non-refundable.
A refund will not normally be provided merely because the client:
- Changes business plans
- Decides not to use the completed work
- Changes the project concept
- Chooses another service provider
- Delays the project
- Changes internal management decisions
5. Third-Party Charges
Payments made for third-party products or services are generally non-refundable once purchased or activated.
These may include:
- Domain registration
- Hosting
- SSL certificates
- Premium themes
- Plugins
- Software licences
- APIs
- Payment gateway setup
- Cloud services
- Email or SMS services
- App store charges
- Advertising spend
- External subscriptions
Refunds for third-party purchases are subject to the policies of the respective provider.
Tech Smash cannot guarantee refunds for third-party services.
6. Domain and Hosting Payments
Domain registrations and renewals are generally non-refundable once processed.
Hosting refunds, if any, depend on the hosting provider’s applicable policy.
If Tech Smash purchases hosting or domain services on behalf of a client, any refund will depend on whether the relevant provider permits cancellation and reimbursement.
7. Website Development and Design Projects
For website development or web design projects, refund eligibility depends on the project stage.
If significant work has already been completed, the corresponding portion of the payment will not be refundable.
Work may include:
- UI/UX planning
- Homepage design
- Inner-page design
- Responsive development
- WordPress configuration
- Shopify setup
- eCommerce setup
- Custom coding
- Forms
- Integrations
- Testing
- Deployment preparation
Changes in personal preference after approval of a design or development stage do not automatically create refund eligibility.
8. Software and Mobile Application Projects
Software and mobile application projects often involve custom development and dedicated development time.
Payments for completed milestones, developed modules, technical research, architecture, integrations and testing are generally non-refundable.
If a project is cancelled midway, Tech Smash may calculate the value of work completed up to the cancellation date.
9. SEO Services
SEO services involve ongoing work and cannot guarantee specific rankings, traffic or business outcomes.
Payments for SEO work already performed are non-refundable.
This may include:
- Website audits
- Keyword research
- On-page optimization
- Technical SEO
- Local SEO
- Content planning
- Link-related work
- Reporting
- Google Business Profile optimization
A decline or lack of improvement in rankings does not automatically create refund eligibility.
10. Google Ads and Meta Ads Services
Payments made to advertising platforms such as Google or Meta are controlled by those platforms and are not refundable by Tech Smash.
Tech Smash management fees for work already performed are generally non-refundable.
Advertising results may vary based on:
- Market demand
- Competition
- Advertising budget
- Offer quality
- Landing page performance
- Platform policies
- Audience behaviour
A particular number of leads, sales or conversions is not guaranteed unless specifically agreed in writing.
11. Monthly and Recurring Services
Monthly services may include:
- SEO
- Website maintenance
- Advertising management
- Content updates
- Technical support
- Other recurring services
Payments for a service period that has already started are generally non-refundable once work for that period has commenced.
Clients wishing to stop future recurring services should provide notice before the next billing period wherever reasonably possible.
12. Delays Caused by the Client
Refunds will not normally be issued where project delays result from the client’s failure to provide:
- Required information
- Content
- Feedback
- Approvals
- Login credentials
- Technical access
- Required documents
Tech Smash may pause a project where required information or communication is not received for an extended period.
13. Project Inactivity
If a client stops responding or fails to provide required material for an extended period, the project may be treated as inactive.
Restarting an inactive project may be subject to:
- Current availability
- Revised timelines
- Updated pricing
- Additional charges where substantial rework is required
Payments for work already completed before the project became inactive are not refundable.
14. Dissatisfaction and Corrections
If a client believes that delivered work does not match the agreed scope, the client should contact Tech Smash and clearly explain the issue.
Where a genuine issue falls within the originally agreed project scope, Tech Smash will make reasonable efforts to review and correct the issue.
A refund should not be treated as the first remedy where an issue can reasonably be corrected.
15. Refund Requests
Refund requests should include:
- Client name
- Project or service name
- Payment details
- Reason for the request
- Relevant project information
Requests will be reviewed based on:
- Agreed project scope
- Project stage
- Work completed
- Third-party expenses
- Payments received
- Applicable contractual terms
Submitting a refund request does not automatically mean that the refund will be approved.
16. Approved Refunds
If a refund is approved, the amount will be calculated after deducting:
- Work already completed
- Third-party expenses
- Payment processing charges where applicable
- Non-refundable purchases
- Other reasonable project-related costs already incurred
Approved refunds will normally be processed through an appropriate payment method.
The time required for the amount to appear in the client’s account may depend on banks, payment gateways or financial service providers.
17. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
Clients are encouraged to contact Tech Smash before initiating a payment dispute or chargeback.
Where services have already been provided, Tech Smash may provide relevant project records, invoices, communication and proof of completed work to the payment provider or financial institution handling the dispute.
18. Exceptions
A different cancellation or refund arrangement may apply where specifically stated in a signed agreement, quotation, proposal or other written contract.
Where project-specific terms conflict with this general policy, the agreed project-specific terms may apply to that project.
19. Changes to This Policy
Tech Smash may update this Refund & Cancellation Policy from time to time to reflect changes in services, business practices or applicable requirements.
The latest version will always be published on this page with an updated revision date.
