NEWINGTON — Officers with the Newington Police Division responded to the world of the Olympia Diner on the Berlin Turnpike Sunday. 

Division officers haven’t publicly defined the rationale for the heavy police presence and didn’t instantly reply to questions in regards to the investigation. 

As of seven p.m., a number of officers might be seen surrounding the constructing and looking out the world round a neighboring O’Reilly Auto Components retailer. The officers have deployed at the very least two drones within the ongoing effort. 

Tyler Gavin, of Berlin, mentioned he noticed officers with sniper rifles and riot shields close to the restaurant. 

“We noticed the cop vehicles and adopted them,” Gavin mentioned. “They instructed us to maintain shifting however we pulled into the automotive wash.” 

The Olympia Diner, which opened at its present location in 1954, claims to be the longest chrome steel diner within the nation. It’s open every day from 6 a.m. to midnight.
